My Weekend As A Stay At Home Dad
This weekend was full of daddy/daughter time and it was amazing. Except the parts where she wouldn’t take a nap, or she wouldn’t eat, cry for an unknown reason, and wouldn’t sleep through the night. Other than that – it was amazing. That’s the brilliant thing about babies no matter how they may frustrate you because you are clueless they do something really cute and brings you back to earth. In a nutshell that was my weekend. It was MiMo being crazy then MiMo being adorable. The wife was working OT so it was up to me to hold down the fort. I completely underestimated the work it takes for a stay at home mom/dad. I’m sorry for any ignorant things I may have said about you in the past. Holy Shitballs this is hard.
You find yourself in a battle of wills with a person with a limited understanding of English. Also, you talk to yourself more than ever. I literally sat on the couch and in between praying that she would stay asleep in her crib I had an intense conversation with myself about the true purpose of lace locks on the Jordan Vs. That’s when I knew I had hit rock bottom. Just like clockwork after a Guinness record of 15 minutes of sleep MiMo was completely recharged and ready to take over the world. Meanwhile I still haven’t decided if the lace locks were a nuisance or brilliant engineering.
I’m pretty sure I’ve aged 10 years.
This is the early toddler-hood where they are more than lumps of cells lying around but not quite mobile enough to go ham on a playground. Overall it was a good weekend we laughed, cried and threw things. I think I did most of the crying while she found it hysterical. The house was still in one piece and neither of us has any visible scars (physically or psychologically) so I would call that a success.
