Happy Father’s Day to all the great fathers out there but most importantly, my father. I was blessed to have my father with me through all of my life and while growing up with a father that set boundaries and made you own up to your mistakes made some days not so fun – it also molded me into the man I am today. Those hot summers cutting the grass, raking, clearing the brush (aka large piles of sticks) and the all important moving the ash from the burn pile to fill in the driveway was oh so fun. There was never a time when I needed you and you were not around or too busy. You were attentive, loving (in only the way you can) and supportive. You taught me important lessons about life, hard work and the art of compromise in marriage. I’m still working on being as fiscally responsible as you, I try ‘but I fall short of the glory’, often. You had a rough year, this last 365 was tough and even though you were down some days you fought through it. You refused to beaten and you came out the other side a victor. You are the father I hope to be. You’re still my role model for manhood. Pops I love you and couldn’t have created a better father if I tried. Happy Father’s Day.
*BTW remember when you kicked that kid out of our yard for making a hole in the front yard with his dirt bike. Lol.
